Richard’s Notes:
- When searching Hot Trends, make sure you are in the Country index you want. For many folks this will be the Country you reside in (Google UK, etc.), but most will probably want to use the USA index as its the biggest and most searched index, which means more traffic.
- Take some time and really think about the reasons folks are searching for these keywords. You are looking for “buying” keywords. Basically keywords that people would use when they are shopping:
- sears sale on jeans = buying keyword
- blue jeans= not a buying keyword (no way to tell what these folks are looking for)
- When reviewing the keyword, make sure the trend is still moving in an upward direction. You want it to still be “hot” when you get your content out there. Even better, select “hot” keywords that are more evergreen as mentioned in the Action Steps above.
- It’s also a good idea to find a Hot Trend that is a cluster of keywords. What I mean by this is that there is more than one keyword related to this trend. That way it will be much easier to come up with articles ideas and you will not run out of content in week.
