Create Blogger Account / Post Articles

This lesson focuses on what exactly is “Google Hot Trends” and how to search for the best keywords/topics.

Action Steps:

  1. Go to www.blogger.com and sign up for an account.
    • You can use your Google or Gmail account if you already have one.
  2. Create your Blog
    • Once logged into Blogger.com Dashboard click on the Create a Blog option.
    • Name your blog with something that can organize or group your articles.
    • Type in the name in the blog address URL so it matches the actual name of your blog.
    • Choose a template next. Don’t be too picky, pick one that looks good. You can always change it later.
  3. Edit your blog and add content
    • Copy/Paste the brief content you came up with for your topic from your text file into the designated area.
    • Title your post the name of the hot trend topic you are targeting. (i.e. 2009 Rose Bowl Tickets)
    • Post your content.
  4. Continue to add content
    • Go back to Lesson 2 and keep writing content based on Hot Trend keywords
    • Once you have found a good topic you can add further content based on basic keyword research (all the page don’t have to be based on Google Hot Trends).
    • Ideally 5-10 posts will start to get you some authority in the niche

Richard’s Notes:

  • Blogger.com is just one way that you can use this technique.  You can also create similar accounts/blogs at other sites like Squidoo, HubPages, Weebly, etc.  Our case study in Lesson 8 will be using some of these alternate methods to see which are the most profitable.
  • You can also create these accounts with a pseudonym if you are in multiple niches.  I have done this for a few niches so I don’t end up diluting my “authority” on these sites.
    • Most of the sites mentioned above will link together all of your blogs under your account and your bio.  So if you have blogs on dog training, kayaking, parenting and orchids, it looks like you are all over the place and not an “expert” in any one area.
    • If you create a pseudonym, or separate profile, for each niche then you appear more of an expert as the blogs can be more focused on one topic (dog training, dog treats, dog grooming, etc.).
    • I usually do this by signing up for a new Gmail account and then registering on all the sites with this new account.  Keeps things very organized and seperate.
  • Tips on coming up with a name/URL for your blog:
    • Try and come up with a name that can group or organize your articles, but remain broad enough to grow as needed.
    • Hot news, hot trends, breaking news, up to the minute news, etc.
    • You can also be more specific to your niche like “dog training news”.
    • If the name you choose is unavailable just add like 123 at the end of it or some other suffix to make it unique (google will usually ignore 3 characters or less if they are not a keyword).
